BA14 covers Trowbridge and surrounding villages in Wiltshire Council. Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire and the seat of the county council. The town has a historic centre built on the prosperity of the West of England wool trade in the 18th and 19th centuries, with a conservation area covering the historic streets including Fore Street and Roundstone Street. Housing is mixed: older listed and unlisted Georgian and Victorian terraces, interwar and postwar semis, and substantial newer estate development from the 1990s onwards on the periphery.

Trowbridge station sits on the Wessex Main Line and provides services to Bath, Bristol, Salisbury, Westbury and Portsmouth. The A361 and A363 provide road links. Wiltshire Council itself is a major employer, alongside the Royal United Hospital (Bath, just over the boundary) and the local industrial estates.
